2006 Judges' School
The Judges' School was an unqualified success. Almost thirty attendees
-- including the Introductory portion of the class as well as the Recurrent
portion -- studied under Greg Dungan to gain an understanding of the grading
criteria for figures, operation of contests, and organization of the IAC and
international aerobatic organizations. As you can see from the class photo
below, we filled the EAA Chapter 690 hangar. Students came from as far
away as Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina for the class, and most completed
the written exam before leaving.
Special thanks to the people who made this possible:
- Steve Haslup - coordinator of the Judges' School
who took on the challenge of planning the event and making sure it went off
without a hitch.
- Greg Dungan - Instructor who traveled from
Maryland to spend his weekend in the hangar trying to make us understand.
- Joyce Crow - who helped Steve with food, drinks,
and writing the checks to make it all happen.
- EAA Chapter 690 - for allowing us to use their
space for the class.
- Attendees - who gave up their weekend to learn
how to judge, and hopefully be better pilots because of it.
